I'm Matt, a husband and father to a wonderful (and wild) mix of a boy and three girls. I moved to the Bay Area from the UK over a decade ago, and I’ve spent the years since building and scaling go-to-market teams for some of the most recognisable names in enterprise tech.
I started my working life as a golf pro, before eventually finding my way into the world of talent, initially recruiting GTM roles into the networking and security space with a specialist executive recruiting firm called Optimal. From there, I moved in-house, working with companies like Riverbed, HP, and Adobe. I joined ForgeRock as they began scaling globally, and over nearly seven years helped lead both the Talent and HR Business Partnering teams, taking the company public in 2021. More recently, I served as Chief People Officer at NexTech, an EV battery disruptor focused on lithium-sulfur energy storage.
Cypress Talent is about coming full circle., bringing all those years of hands-on hiring, scaling, and leadership into focused, high-integrity search work.
And talent, I’ve found, is a lot like golf: everything is earned, nothing is given, and most of the answers live in the dirt.

I’m Stuart, husband and father to two amazing girls. I've spent my entire career in talent. I got my start at a brilliant London-based search firm called PSD, found my niche in the enterprise software space, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of leading Talent teams at generational companies like Adobe, Salesforce, Autodesk, and ServiceNow and more recently in the scale-up world with Personio (HR SaaS platform), Satispay (mobile payments), and Multiverse (workforce transformation platform).
Along the way, I’ve hired leaders in every GTM function across multiple geographies, stages, and leadership styles. But what’s stayed constant is how personal this work is. Helping someone take the next step in their career, or helping a founder make the right hire at the right time, that still means everything.
Cypress Talent is us doing the kind of search I believe in: close partnerships, honest conversations, no BS, and a focus on doing the work well.
